Seedbearers is a week-long spiritual and work retreat, where we work on homes of people that cannot afford repairs. Seedbearers is made up of teens and adults from Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton who volunteer their time. The goal is to reach out to others and minister to their needs, while spreading The Good News. There is no cost to the homeowner, and all the work, materials, and money to do this comes from donations.
Seedbearers started in 1991 by Mary Saffa. She and a handful of teens and adults went to Old Mines, Missouri to work on one house. They stayed at the Saint Michael House which is run by the Rural Parish Workers.
As the years progressed, the group continued to multiply. Instead of just working on one home, they could work on as many as 7 homes in one week.
In 1999, the Seedbearers moved to Perryville, Missouri. They stayed at the Saint Vincent High School. There, they began to take a bigger initiative to work closely with the local businesses and other communities within Perryville and the neighboring towns. After 9 amazing years, the Seedbearers left Perryville.
In 2008, the Seedbearers moved to Saint Rose of Lima in DeSoto, Missouri. They could not return the following year, because of school renovations. So in 2009, they moved to Our Lady, Queen of Peace in House Springs, Missouri. There they hope to find a home for many years.
We would like to thank all of those that have donated to us, prayed for us, and supported us. We ask for your continued support and prayers.
THANKS FOR A GREAT YEAR
